What Is Aims-TA-1?
Rendering of Aims-TA-1
Aims-TA-1 is the first tank test article for our liquid fueled space shot, Aims-1. It will be tested to 6 bar of pressure, the flight pressure of Aims-1. It features a 20 inch long, 8 inch diameter tank wall, with two elliptical domes welded on either end, and a quick-connect air hose fitting on top. If it passes initial testing, it will then perform more testing with water in the tank to simulate propellant.
Readiness
We expect Aims-TA-1 to be complete by February 2025. All parts necessary for the tank have been ordered. The next step ahead of testing is the acquisition of a TIG welder, accompanying 4042 filler rods, and welding gas.
No other constraints are present for TA-1 testing at this time.
Testing Timeline
T-10:00: Livestream begins
T-8:00: Aims-TA-1 begins pressurizing to 2 bar
T-4:00: Joints are checked for leakage. If leakage is detected, the test will conclude for the day.
T-2:00: Test site team retreats from the testing cage
T-0: Aims-TA-1 begins pressurizing to 6 bar. Any leakage or test article damage past this point will not result in an abort.
